Curitiba is a beautiful little town with cobbled mosaicy streets, flowery squares and some stunning architecture. We arrived on Sunday and have spent a lovely couple of days wandering around and because this town is more relaxed and generally alot more pleasant I have managed to take quite a few photos. This town is definitely a sharp contrast to both Rio and Sao Paulo and is our favourite so far. It is clean with very few homeless and is centred around a young university population so it is also alot more modern. There is also another botanical gardens which we had a look around. This wasn't as nice as the Rio gardens but again made a nice break away from the hustle and it was nice to see the turtles and birds. The buses are alot harder here and the language barrier was more apparent. We got on what we thought was the correct bus, although I think for the botanical gardens we was meant to get on it at a different stop, so half way round the driver gave us a big portuguese 5 minute speech before we could finally but-in too tell him we didn't have a clue what he was saying! Anyway after 1 hour on the bus we finally arrived with his help and him showing us which bus stop to get off! Phew! As it was hard work figuring out which bus to get back we decided to walk the couple of miles instead! We booked into a cheap hotel during our stay in this town Hotel Inca - aka Hotel Hostage as we have nicknamed it because of a similar resemblance to a drug runners den off the tv programme Banged up abroad! Haha! It's very basic consisting of a bed, metal clothes hanging frame, tv and table. It was nice to have our own space though and it was relaxing as the tv contained some English film channels so we didn't feel as obliged to go out on a night time and could chill out in the room. The street food is excellent here and you can have a big corn on the cob for 50p, meat pasties (pastel carne) for about 35p and also the tastiest popcorn ever, a big bag for £1! We are now just waiting for our bus in a little bar while Jonathans tasting the local brew! A long overnight 10 hour journey to Foz do Iguacu to see the waterfall where we will also be camping. Great Fun! This will also take us to the border of Paraguay and Argentina. Bye for now, Hayls and Jonathan x
