Fiji is AMAZING!!! We arrived here on Thursday and stayed one night in Nadi then booked ourselves onto the Robinson Crusoe Island. When the boat was pulling upto the island it was like a postcard, the picture above is actually of Robinson's, white sand, cocunut trees, hammocks and beach huts lined the beach. It was so beautiful me and Holly couldn't believe we were there! We were greeted off the boat by the staff singing a Fijian welcome song with guitars, then were sent straight to lunch. The food here is great, all fresh and healthy (no macdonalds!!). After lunch we had a few hours of sunbathing on the beach then we had a welcome ceremony on the beach with a sunset bonfire and guitar playing. The Fijians have a drink here called Kava, its made from herbs and roots from plants. It isn't alcoholic but it gives you a natural high. You drink it out of a wooden bowl which is passed round the group, when it comes to you you clap, say 'Bula' which means Hello, then down the Kava. It looks like dirty dish water and doesn't taste much better but it does make you tounge numb! After that we played some games like limbo and bread eating (a bit like apple bobbing) and drank lots. Everyone was really friendly and we soon made friends with other people on the island, when we left there was a group of us that got on really well and spent all our time together. The staff were great they put on fire throwing shows which were great, they showed us knife throwing, climbing cocunut trees, snorkelling, we played volleyball on the beach, made cocunut jewellry. Honestly we are having the time of our lives. Sarah has chosen to go her own way with some other people she met so me and Holly are living it up in Fiji as a twoesome. All the electricity went off at 12pm on the island so we then had bonfires on the beach with more guitar playing and Kava. Its so chilled out its infectious. Its very basic there but its really good to experience it, theres no running water for example, the staff have to bring it over from the mainland in huge containers. So the showers are bucket cold water showers, these were a bit of a culture shock but i was surprised how refreshing a cold water bucket shower would be when its boiling hot outside! There was also pirates nightclub, probably the only beachhouse nightclub im ever going to party in, but everynight was spent drinking and dancing in there. We had three nights on Robinsons and were really sad to leave. We are back on Nadi now staying at Beach Escape resort, its really nice and a minute walk from the beach. We are here for 5 nights then are going to travel to another Island for a few nights, so i'll keep you updated!!
