We had a 2 hr boat journey to Koh Tao which wasn't good. Took a lot of focusing on the horizon/land as was so choppy! We loved koh tao and although it's really small and quiet it was so nice and chilled! Also because it's not so big like samui, all the people are more or less in one place! We arrived from Ho Chi Minh to Phnom Penh after about a 6 hour journey although it didn't take long at all to get to the actual border! The bus from Mui Ne to Ho Chi Minh city took about 6 hours but wasn't too bad. We found a guesthouse fairly near where we were dropped off and it was in the daytime which was a bonus!! We were worried about not liking saigon after hanoi being so crazy but we loved it! It's nothing like hanoi really and we got our bearings quite easily.
