Hi girls and guys! Nat has returned to reign supreme over the blog writing duty today (I had my daily nap in the sun earlier!) So where did we leave you???
Oh yeah, yesterday. Sorry for the lack of updating - this site didn't feel like playing, but to be honest we didn't really have a lot to say as we spent the whole day travelling. The morning was spent on the tranzcoastal train (quite scenic, no nutters on board, Nathan took a few photos, Nat sat there wishing the American's over the other side of the cariage would stop talking about LOTR for just 1 minute...). We got off at Blenheim and got on yet another coach to Nelson. This journey bought back many memories for us both - the road was long and windy, high altitudes, hot coach, dodgy seating, too many people on board... Luckily no travel sickness this time! Got to our accomodation mid afternoon - quite old fashioned but lovely hosts (the shuttle we'd booked to take us to the B&B had left as the coach was late - the owner happened to be in town so he picked us up. We got into his car and neither of us knew who he was. He did tell us his name though, before we got in, so that was surely ok?! LOL) The room is spacious, massive comfortable bed and really funky bathroom! Only got free shampoo here though. Good job we don't rely on the freebies as we'd possibly be a bit stinky by now (but we'd have lovely apple scented hair)
In the evening we went to the most hip place in town, and had one of the best meals we've had in NZ. Cost us an arm and a leg though - at last we had full tummys! This morning (sorry - I honestly (really) do not know what day it is today, other than my uncle Patrik's Birthday (HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!) therefore it is the 30th Nov... yeah?) whatever day it is we had an early (7am) pickup on another coach for a day trip in the Abel Tasman national park. The driver (Tony) was slightly strange; although we admit it was early in the morning he looked as though he was a love-child of Patrick Swayze and Tom Hanks (!), he put on a mix tape of his faourite ska music (proper vintage tapes here - no MP3/CD/IPOD etc) and seemed to bop along to a completely different tune to the ones we were listening too. Safe in the knowledge we were being escorted to our destination by a very "unusual" fellow, we both became quite dosy on the coach. That is until Nathan nearly had a heart attack when he saw a sight not fit for morning eyes... Scary Psycho Steve (bus driver from Greymouth - Franz Josef). I have never before heard Nathan screech. It made me jump. It made the lad behind us laugh. We both quickly diverted our panic attacks when we actually realised he was on another coach, heading in completely the opposite direction. MASSIVE PHEW! That woke Nathan up for the day, Nat settled back for some more beauty sleep after about 5 minutes.
Once in the Nat park we boarded a boat and had about 1.5 hours cruising along the coastline, which was very pretty. Saw loads of birds, but only 3 seals. Slightly disappointed, but they were all out shopping or something...? Anyhows, we landed at some random beach, and walked about 4km (it was up and down though - think extreme Lulworth with much less army influence and lots more trees/jungle atmosphere) to another beach, where we had to wait for the return boat to ourt starting destination. It was here, on the beach, in a cool 25 degree heat (approx) for another hour and a bit, that we both caught the sun. Nathan didn't look too bad until we got home and he showered - what didn't look "too bad" before was now an obvious red tinge all over the top half of his body, with only the tops of his legs representing his proper skin tone. He is now soothing his skin with some very female-orientated body moisturiser that we acquired from a previous B&B. Nat got away with two small areas on her back, that were just missed when applying the sun cream, and just not covered enough by her top. Not toooo bad in all!
Just got back in from a lovely proper Italian meal, and sadly we are packing (well, Nathan is. I'm sat doing the important stuff on the pooter of course) as we are leaving for Wellington tomorrow. Doubt we'll have much to report again as we are travelling all day, but may think up an elaborate story to keep our followers amused!
As Nathan has now safely packed, I can leave the blog, and send you all our love and best wishes! Stay safe in the snow (snigger!)
Loads of love x x x x x x x
