So we had 3 days in Melbourne and here's the lowdown on what we got up to while we were there...
Day uno
Took a stroll down to the Melbourne Aquarium where we found out that they had just acquired some new additions - some penguins! So first of all we said hello to the little penguins and the king penguins, they were so brilliant to watch, total characters each and every one of them! Then we went off in search of some other creatures of the deep and came up close and personal with some jellies and sharks to name a few. Later on we made our way to the Eureka skytower which is the best lookout point over Melbourne (apparently). The super dooper fast lift takes you 88 floors to the top of the building and it really is a brilliant view of the city. We had fun spying on everyone down below using the really cool/powerful telescope things that they have dotted about the place.
Day deux
Traveled on the trams down to Federation Sqaure where there was a huge advent calendar hanging on one of the walls to celebrate Christmas. There are some nice cafes here so we had some lunch and then went round the corner to visit the museum of moving image. They had an exhibition on about "Setting the scene" in movies and we saw a brilliant brilliant brilliant exhibition on Australia the film, including lots of photos and bits of the set. That night we took a tram down to St Kildas which is a seaside suburb. We saw 3 drunks and 2 penguins and had 1 lovely slap up dinner!
Day Three
We got up late and then went to the Queen Victoria Market (no way as good as the Central Market in Adelaide). Then we took the Neighbours bus tour to hang out in Ramsey Street for a while. It was all rather unexciting as the sets were tiny, the actual street was tiny and the stars from the show were very normal! We saw Declan and Janelle for anybody who is a big fan of the show! I don't think I was a big enough fan to appreciate it all as I hadn't watched the show for years. My favourite bit was watching the old episodes with Kylie and Jason on the bus on the way back!
And that was about all the time we had in Melbourne...a very nice city but not as nice as SYDNEY where we are now (v. excited about being here, can you tell??)! More news on Sydney after Christmas. So for everyone back home I guess this will be my last blog before Christmas so I wish you all a HAPPY CHRISTMAS and a VERY MERRY NEW YEAR!! Love to you all at home, missing you millions and speak to you all via the virtual world after Christmas.
