Well, if you'd told me 2 years ago that on my second anniversary I'd be in Sydney and on a 3 month holiday I'm not sure I would have believed you, but here we are!! Thankfully feeling ok for the first time in about 7 days today so that was really nice for a change! Today we hot footed it over to Circular Key where we caught the Bondi Explorer bus and had a scenic tour to Bronte Beach (with a really good driver and, for once, useful commentary!) where we got off and walked back along the coastline to Bondi Beach. Magnificent views from the walk, it's truly beautiful and they have exercise stations along the way so you can do your running, chips dips, chest presses and any number of other activities along the way. Better than a circuit class in an air conditioned and smelly gym any day! Needless to say we didn't take up the challenge and test the equipment out...
Great day at Bondi, well, a few hours at least. Good people watching and not a cloud in the sky. It's not too hot here at the moment either and there's a coolness to the breeze so its really comfortable lying out in the sun. I could definitely spend more time there!
We decided to try to see a play at the Opera House tonight so took the local 'Bendy Bus' back and made ourselves beautiful (??!!) for the evening. Had a really nice dinner - nice to be eating properly again! - and then luckily managed to get 2 of the last 3 tickets to the play, and discounted from $70 to $29 due to it being within the last hour before the performance - bargain! An anniversary gift from my Mum paid for it all, thank you Mum! Play was actually really good, The Pig Iron People, very observant comedy about a particular class of Australian people, both really enjoyed it and I'm really pleased to have been able to see something at the Opera House while we are here! All in all a pretty cool way to spend any day, not least your Anniversary!

Yep, a pretty cool day all in all yesterday! The coastline around Bondi is stunning, it was really cool walking along the cliffs to the beach. We were going to walk the 5k to Bondi from Coogee Beach, but then the weather had turned so nice by the time we got to the area, we ditched that idea and did the shorter 30 minute walk from Bronte beach in order to maximise beach time! I could really get used to the lifestyle here - a morning run along the coast, leave work on time and then head to the beach for a bit of chilling out or surfing! You certainly couldn't do that in Maidenhead!
After a really nice dinner (notwithstanding the non-English speaking waitress who needed her manager to interpret for her at one point. All I said was "2 Carlton Draught". I guess that particular phrase must sound like something pretty offensive in Thai as she looked at me like I had just slandered her mother, and then called the manager over!) we went to see a play at the Opera House. Not knowing anything about the play, the writer or any of the actors you never quite know what you are going to get. But it was a pleasant surprise - the house was packed and the play, a satire looking at the views, prejudices and shortcomings of those born in 30's Australia, was really funny and thoroughly enjoyable. With champagne on the terrace with the bridge in the background before the show, it was a pretty good anniversary! Have to find some way of topping it next year!
Off for the bridge climb shortly, then over to Manly for the afternoon. And also managed to find some cricket to watch tomorrow. At the bargain price of $7 (about GBP3) what cheaper way can there be to bore the arse off your wife for the whole day???
