Sadly rain stopped play in the wakeboarding after Nick had just one go, so I was never able to demonstrate my prowess at the sport. Probably a good thing as it would have been ultimately quite embarrassing, so at least I was spared my blushes! But we still managed to have a really good day out on the boat. There is something very cool about arriving places by boat - I think we should do more of it! When we are back in the UK, if anyone spies me arriving at SLH06 one morning in a life jacket, you will know that I have gotten a bit carried away and come to work in a Kayak! Somehow, I don't think it will be quite the same as pulling up to a beachside bar for lunch on a speedboat in the Caribbean!
Had a quiet night in on Sunday after a tiring couple of days out on the water (it is a very hard life that we are leading!), and enjoyed some more quality food prepared by Masterchef Mr Dixey!
With the use of Janet's car yesterday (with her permission of course, we didn't just joyride it!) we headed up to 7 Mile Beach for a few hours in the morning, and soaked up a few rays. The sun is very strong here, and yesterday was pretty hot, so after a while we were forced to retire to the bar and have some cooling beverages!
After a failed diving attempt for Katie followed by a spot of lunch we headed to a different beach for a few hours in the afternoon. As I say, it is a very hard life we lead! The others then went running in the evening (Nick and Janet are running the New York marathon on Sunday), but as my running career ended the moment I crossed the finishing line in Berlin, I retired to the pub for a couple of Rum & Cokes...
We were then treated to a fantastic dinner at the Lobster Pot, where Janet had been given a Dinner for 4 voucher by her boss. I cannot believe I have lived 31 years without trying lobster - absolutely delicious! Thank you guys!
Weather not so great today, currently chucking it down and getting a bit windy, so don't think we will be sunbathing much! Should really go and pack my bag for Havana tomorrow, but can't be bothered! It has been a brilliant few days here, shame it wasn't longer as it has gone really quickly! Nick and Janet - thank you so much for all your hospitality and generosity - if you ever fancy a holiday in Maidenhead, Berkshire just say the word!!

Unfortunately, we're here on the turn of the seasons with the rainy season just ending so a bit of changeable weather is to be expected! Shame about the wakeboarding on Sunday but then at least this way we can pretend to ourselves that we would have been brilliant naturals at it....we still managed to get a bit of snorkelling in and just a very good day out on the boat. The rain made a bit of a laugh too, as you can see from the pictures!
I'm impressed by Mr Dixey's culinary skills it has to be said, and we're very lucky to be staying with Nick and Janet and having use of her car.
Yesterday was a beautiful day and very hot in the sun, so a nice bit of sunbathing for a while. I had booked in for a dive at lunchtime but unfortunately the swell on the sea was too big so it was called off. Strong winds and larger swells today so no diving in Cayman for me - boo! Never mind, I'll be able to do a refresher in Oz instead so not complaining!
Really enjoyed the hash last night, only a nice 4 miles but was great to get running again, although I really didn't have the kit for it - looked a right dweeb in my trail shoes and (far too big) trekking zip offs!! Oh, well, they did the job! Dinner last night was fab, definitely found the taste for Lobster, and the seafood here is great. If you like fish, come to Cayman! Not to mention the company, which was great too!
Today we'll just see how the weather goes, we picked up our tickets to Cuba this morning and we'll have a look round the shops and see how the fancy takes us later. We'll take Miranda (Janet and Nick's dog) out for a walk and need to sort clothes out etc to pack up once again so plenty to keep us occupied if the sun doesn't come out!!
I'll second James' comment and thanks to Nick and Janet for letting us stay with them and for looking after us so well, definitely a return favour on offer, but don't think it would be quite the same!
