So...... the night before we went to see the Terracotta Warriors we went out for something to eat just around town again no idea what we were ordering and the staff were all coming to have a look at us beacuse we must have seemed strange to them, people were even taking photos of us when we were sitting down a bit later on. We went back to the hostel to have a few beers the hostel has a huge bar when you walk in there are about 25 huge comfy sofas and tables that you can sit around it's quite dark but really chilled out I think it's a place where al lthe young locals come and hang out, so we had a couple of beers and realised that everyone on the next table was looking and laughing just obviously thought we were funny looking as everyone else in the whole bar was chinese, eventually someof the group left and one of thelads turned and said hello then they all burst out laughing cut a long story short they invited us over to sit with them (in chinese!) we had beers bought all night long one particular guy took a real shine to both of us and one of the lads girrlfriends took a shine to me she had a phone that translated into chinese so we communicated through that all night, it turns out somehow that we arranged to go for Beijing Duck the next night with them all once we got back from the warriors (god knows how we managed to organise that they knew about five phrases between them v. fuuny)
So we wet to the Warriors and as we said in our previous post we had a great day, we discussed whether we thought the chinese people would turn up as they had been drinking allnight! We also dicussed if they are there should we go with a load of people we dont know who spoke no English, we got back the hotel and one of the guys was already in the bar even though we had arrange to meet at seven o clock luckily our guide was still with us from the warriors so she tranlated for us and he said ha was meeting eveyone in the bar at seven and we went to shower and get ready.
Went to the bar at seven and three chinese guys were there two from the night before and one we did not know, we thought how on earth are we going to have a night out with these guys when we don't even speak the same language well that was just the start we had no need to be nervous!! After Joe had spanked them all at pool we were told come follow us me and Joe walking along with these three guys they were phoning all of there mates and getting us to speak English to them down the phonelaughing there heads off, we were like oh god this is going to be a strange night! We arrive at one restaurant that was shut so they put us in a taxi and eventually we arrived at this huge place we were like oh my god this looks posh bearing in mind we still had not communicated beyond "Hello" "Very Good" or "What a beautiful day" we were shown into this restaurant which we were like WOW then into our own private room overlooking the town with a huge table in the middle beer was immediately poured into our glasses and "GAMBE" "CHEERS" which means down your drink (yes dad you did warn us) they ordered allof the food for us we had about seven fantastic dishes they were very impressed that we were using chopsticks then we had a whole duck bought in by the head chef and he carved it for us and we had the pancakes etc, they eat the WHOLE duck including the skin the bones etc and they even bring a soup out which the duck has been cooked in,which was actually okay, every time our glass was empty it was filled it was amazing I was trying to teach them to say I love stoke city but think I confused them even more I think at onepoint they thought Joe was a footaballer allof there mates calling up saying football to us,anyway we left they refused to let us ay for anything and they said come to Kareoke.
They took us to a kareoke bar which are nothing like England you walk in there are huge corridors mirrored we were shown to our own private booth settes all round hude plazma TV with microphones on them, bottle of whiskey (did not have any of this) on the table we we were bought a crate of beer and two huge platter of fruit by a couple of the girls honestly we could not believe it so we proceded to sing Kareoke (you guys all know how rubbish we are at singing but hey) our glasses kept getting filled up constantly and Joe even went to the toilet and had the guy that worked in the toilet giving him a massage while he was weeing, which he found v strange but the guy even followed him to the sink hillarious, anyway we were made to sind Celine Dion "My Heart Will Go" on and all Sorts"all of a sudden it became normal that we could not even speak the same language hilarious. At twelve oclock the lights went out and dance music pumped into our booth we all danced for one hour then hot towels were bought in to wipe our faces with v strange. It all came to and end about one o clock and one of the guys refused toilet us pay he put us in a taxi came with us and walked us to the door of the hostel and and said bye bye, had an amazing night could not believe it in themoring. Just goes to show you can still have a fantastic night when you don'e even know what the people you are with are saying but me and Joe said we would have done the same back in Stoke!!
