We've just finished our first days training and I literally feel like I'm at school/university. You would think the training for a chalet host would be quite practical. It's not. We had lectures from 8:30am to 1:30, then 2:30 til 6. I only got a few hours sleep the night before and 1 hour on the bus, so I'm going to bed very early tonight. The lectures were so boring and they were telling us all about the companies but repeating themselves over and over again. I looked around and everyone looked as bored as I did and we were all trying so hard not to fall asleep. Amelia is in a different accommodation to me and she has really nice people living with her so I spend quite a lot of time with them. In my apartment (everyone going to Courchevel) there are 4 girls and then loads of boys. The girls are nice but I haven't really got to know two of them as they did the cookery course last week. There are so many people here who did the Orchards, nearly every other person so it's nice to talk to all of them. There is still no snow so it is strange to see all the pistes as grass. No snow forecast until the 5th but apparently it's going to be a 3 week snow storm! I think we start cooking tomorrow but it sounds like no one has practiced many of the recipes except me....oh well! The bus over was a fun ride, I sat down and was immediately surrounded by boys and all the other girls were working in the hotel in 1650 so I didnt get a chance to talk to them. We missed our ferry from Dover so had to wait another 2 hours for the next ferry. Luckily an old friend from QM, Ellie Grant, was on my coach so I had some company! We are staying in some apartments which are actually really nice and there is a nice communal area where I am at the moment and everyone is playing poker. Les Arc isn't the nicest of resorts, there are loads of apartment blocks so to get to our main lecture theatre we have to walk up about 1000 steep steps and everyone's panting at the top, I think you have to be there to find it funny. Well that's all I can think of for now but I've decided this is going to be my sort of diary so I'll try and keep it updated regularly! Hope you're all well x

Mummy Lovely to read your blog. Sorry I was out last night for skyping and playing bridge tonight at 7.30 so cannot talk unless it is before then. Can you post some photos.? Miss you. Lol
Auntie Judy Good to hear your adventures. Hope it snows soon. I am sure the cooking will be fine . Thanks for your card.
Hedgehog and Liz Great to hear from you. It feels like we are with you enjoying your adventures. Keep the reports coming in. The way it looks here we could have snow before you do.
Mummy Lovely to talk to you today and very excited for you having a different chalet to host. I know you will manage to cook for 8 instead of 6! The chalet looks good and great that you are going to be living in! Unless of course it changes again. Pleased to hear there is loads of snow now. All booked for 15th in coq de bruyeres - no doubt you will be starting a list of things for us to bring! Lol x x x x PS let me have an address I can send things to - might be better to one of the hotels - ask someone and let me know
Aunty Claire Hi Harriet - we think you're blog is brilliant. You certainly make it all come alive for us. The weather has changed here so can only think snow is on the way. Those French ski resorts like Les Arc look awful without snow as you say. We know you'll be fine cooking for 8 and you've obviously shown you can. Nothing much happening here except all the economic doom and gloom. Helen's got a birthday cake to do with a cricket theme - I don't think she knows much about cricket! Looking forward to hearing more from you. Lots of love
