Today = temple-day!
But first we head out to search for a store that sells cheap Yukatas (= summer style light kimono). Unfortunately we cannot find them, so we continue to have lunch in a nice ramen restaurant and then head to a lot of temples!
The first shrine we visit is Ginkakuji, also known as the Silver Pavillion. The pavillion itself is under reconstruction, which is a bit disappointing, but does allow us to see the details of the construction of the building itself. Besides, the most important part of Ginkakuji is not the building, but the gardens, so there is still enough to see for us. The gardens are really very beautiful.
Our next stop in Kiyomizudera or Pure Water Temple, named after a waterfall behind the main hall. You can drink the water from the three streams of this waterfall that are supposed to bring you wisdom, health and longevity. I tried it, so I guess we'll have to wait if it really works or not...
In this temple complex a famous shrine dedicated to a god of love, visited by a lot of girls to wish for good luck in love.
After all these temples we head to the main street where we meet Iku-chan and her boyfriend. Together with them we enjoy an all-you-can-eat dinner, which resembles a fondue where you can eat all you can during 1,5 hours. I am astonished by the quantities everyone manages to eat!
After this we take a nice stroll through town and finish the evening in a pub with a couple of beers. This concludes my last evening in Kyoto; it has been very impressive, and lots of fun!
