Hey, all. Sorry for the hiatus. As some of you know, Ian and I had plans to be in a village in the Himalayas for a few weeks volunteering and living in the village. We had a crazy trip up to the village and made it through about 5 days, but I got very sick and we had to leave early. For the next week and a half I was basically recovering in Shimla and Delhi and unfortunately didn't get out too much. But this week I started to feel back to myself again (thankfully) and we hit the road again. On Monday we left Delhi for Agra. We spent three nights there and saw a lot, including the Taj Mahal. It was my second time at the Taj, but not any less amazing than the first time. I was also glad to get to spend a few days in Agra and see a bit more of the city than we did the last time I was there. On Thursday, we took an early morning train to Jaipur, where we are now. Monsoon season seems to be in full swing here--yesterday we got caught in a huge downpour and took shelter in a jewelry shop for about an hour. Surprisingly, the salesmen didn't try to sell us anything! Then we bought an umbrella across the street and ventured out. We saw the City Palace from the outside and sat down with a snake charmer who let us take photos with his cobra around our necks. He assured me that the snakes had no teeth, but I'm still not so sure! Yesterday was also the first day of Ramadan, so while we ate dinner on the rooftop restaurant of our hotel, there was a parade in the street and even a few fireworks! Today we laid low and stayed around the hotel because there was more rain and we needed to pin down some arrangements for the next leg of the trip. But tomorrow we'll be back out and exploring the city some more, hopefully this time in drier conditions. We will leave early Sunday morning to head back to Delhi and fly to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Monday. It's hard to believe that we've been in India for almost a month and that this part of the journey is coming to an end. It's been a very challenging few weeks in many ways, but full of lessons and blessings all the same, and I'm looking forward to the next part of the adventure!
