The Devil's Marbles are as striking as ever. As it was still early we decided to push on until we found a free wikicamps site south of Barrow Creek. Only ourselves and two others in a huge open space - just wonderful. More pics of Devils Marbles in album

Not being satisfied with 1,500 kms in 2 days, Derek set off for Alice Springs We were both tired so we only reached Elliot on day 1. The Longreach Waterhole was a little lower and the bird life much much less. We were surprised.

Kate,Denise and I woke at 4.00 am to the sound of pouring rain. Once we were awake we decided to drive on in the dark and rain, or I should say Kate did the early morning drive with Denise as animal on the raod spotter. By the time we reached the NT border the rain had stopped, the sun had started to peep over the horizon and all the cattle were very well behaved on either side of the road.
