I was probably too relaxed in the morning getting up at 07:00 to make bacon and pack. I didn't leave the hotel until 08:30 and soon found myself stuck in traffic trying to access the M1. I had planned on dropping the car off at 09:00 but didn't get there until 10:00. That included taking a couple of toll roads as well. Frustratingly I realised that had I turned right when collecting the car I could have got on the motorway much easier than going through Brisbane last week.
Still there was nothing to worry about as I got to the airport just before 11:00. After a quick self check in and bag drop I was through security and grabbed a pint in the Great Northern Bar. The flight boarded early & soon after take off they moved the very tall chap to another seat to give me some more room. No individual tv units on this flight so I watched Sky News on the drop down communal tv's. Then switched to watching three episodes of Arrow with a coffee.
When I landed Laura had messaged me with a pub to head too. Airport wi fi and signs made getting an uber very easy. There was no traffic coming into town and he gave me some bottled water as well. After a quick change in the bars' toilets, I had my shorts on and was sat outside with a Cooper Ale. Today was going very well.
Laura with her friend Ash came and joined me from the event they had been working at. Had I known they had already been on the champagne I may have had some beers on the flight. We sat in the bar for a few hours chatting, a couple of other lads they knew came and went. The bar filled up as we were there due to people coming out the car taking place in the city. Laura and Ash are heading over to Europe this summer including a weekend in the toon. I'm going to put together a couple of drinking routes for them. They have asked for a nice one and geordie shore one. Will be interesting who from home will join me on each one. It was time to head back after the girls were propositioned to hang out and this old bloke's 'mansion'.
At Laura's we continued with the wine. Ash could not as she had work tomorrow. She only mentioned this once or twice from her prostane position on the couch.Laura ordered a Thai takeout for dinner that was very tasty. Ash a very cultural woman it seems went for plain rice. A bold choice. As on any trip I asked if they had watched any of Trevor Noah's standup. As they hadn't the segment on cololinalism was stuck on that they seemed to enjoy. Though Laura found the sketch historically inaccurate as the Indian man would not have spoken English at the time of the English arrival to India.
Soon Ash headed off & we called it a night.
