Hi all!!
Been having lots of fun! Met some of the people in my dorm room and me and 2 of the girls (Rachel & Lucy) have been getting on really well. I tried to book my abseil to do on monday but because the cable car isn't running they only do advance bookings now so I have booked to do it on thursday when its meant to be a nice clear day. Me, Rachel and Lucy had a little wander around, went down to the waterfront and harbour which was nice and sat outside at a nice cafe for lunch looking out at the sea on one side and table mountain on the other!! lush!! We then had a bit more of a wander and went through the Company Gardens which is a pretty little park on fairly near our hostel. Spent the rest of the day sat up at the balcony at the bar in our hostel, soaking up a bit of sun.
On tuesday, us 3 had booked to go on a winelands tour. Had a nice early start and were at our wirst vineyard and being given wine by 10am!!! Was a bit early for me but needed to get our moneys worth! Had quite a good group and made friends with 2 guys (Simon and James, 2 medicine students) who we hung around with for the rest of the day. We went to 5 vineyards in total and all were really nice. At the first one we had cheese tasting as well and they told us which wines went with the certain cheeses - they were all so good!! At another one we had chopcolate with the wine and at all of them we either got shown how they were making some of the wine or could sit outside and look out at the vineyards!! At the last place we also had champagne tasting and Simon got shown how to open the bottle with a sword! Quite impressive!! Also, found a Belgium couple who aregoing to be on the rest of my tour around Africa!!
By the end though we had all had quite a lot of wine and us and the boys decided to all go out that evening. We met them at their hostel which was on the main street and was really busy so got chatting to more people and got quite a good group of us to go out. Found another guy, Felix (I think) who is on my tour as well! It was a bit of a messy night and when a few of us left at the end and had to ask for directions to our hostel, the police/security guy we asked gave us a lift in the back of his van!! Must say its the first time I've been in the back of a police van!!!
This morning we had another early start as me and Lucy had booked to get the boat over to Robbin Island (where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned). The boat over was really nice and was good to look back and see Cape Town. When we got there we were put on a bus and shown around the island. Then we were introduced to an ex prisoner who showed us inside the prison and Mandelas cell - they were so tiny!! The boat back wasn't quite so fun as it was so so rocky and quite a lot of people started to feel ill. We went outside to get fresh air and the waves around the boat were quite impressive and we kept getting splashed!! Once back we went for lunch and then ahve just spent the rest of the day chilling out and getting ready for tomorrow - table mountain, abseil and then meet my tour group in the evening.
Right, essay over I think!! Thanks for all the messgaes and I will try and upload some piccys!!
