When we got to the South Island we headed straight over to Nelson where we were staying for a couple of nights. We got there quite late so we just got pizzas in and had a chilled out night. The next morning we had all booked onto some activities and I was meant to go kayaking, but unfortunately the weatehr was really bad so it was cancelled. The only thing that was still going ahead was quad biking so I decided to do that instead. I'm very glad that I did because it was so much fun! The rain made it even better and we rode through rivers and massive puddles! By the end of it we were all absolutely covered in mud and soaking wet (luckily they had given us clothes to wear so ours stayed nice and dry!). Some of us also opted to go on the flying fox which goes for about a mile and is the longest flying fox in the world, apparently!! It was good fun but it was soo cold and when we were whizzing down at 94km/hr the rain really stung our faces!! After we got back from quadbiking it was time to feed the little lambs so we helped out and fed them bottles of milk - so cute!! When we were all dried off amd warmed up we headed back to our lodge.
That day was also one of the girls birthdays so we all headed out for dinner. It was really nice and everyone had a few drinks. Matt and Dan who were on my tour in Australia were also travelling around New Zealand and were in Nelson that night to so they came over for some drinks which was really cool to catch up and share stories about NZ! The bar shut fairly early so we all went back to the hotel and carried on having a few drinks. Think everyone had a bit of a sore head the next morning!!
We were supposed to be going swimming with dolphins the next day but unfortunately the weather was still too bad so it was cancelled :( Instead, they took us for some wine tasting - not the best idea as most of the bus was hungover but it was alright when we got into it!! We then drove the rest of the way to Christchurch where I am now and we are getting 15 more new people tomorrow!!
