We got on the Oz bus on the 2nd January for our 4 day trip down to Melbourne, Our first stop was Canberra where we did a tour of parliament house. We then had lunch in the City, it is not what I expected at all for the capital city of Australia, it is quite small and there isn't much to do there, glad we only passed through and didn't stay.
We headed to our accommodation for the night which was a place called Jindabyne lakes, it was beautiful, our balcony looked right out of the lake, we had dinner with everyone then spent the evening playing killer pool and having a few drinks. We have a really good group for this tour, everyone is really nice.
The following day we went for a 10km walk in the snowy mountains, they werent very snowy though, it was about 30/35 degrees so the walk was really hard work it was also very steep but I enjoyed it, we walked to a lookout point which was really pretty, the views were awesome.
We went back to Jindabyne for lunch which we had by the lake in the sun which was nice then got back on the bus and headed to our accommodation for that night which was at a monks retreat!! Which was a bit strange. After we had some dinner we were invited to do meditation which I wasnt sure about as I know I find it hard to keep a straight face at things like that but everyone else was going so I thought it would be ok!!
I was worse than I thought I would be, unfortunately Matt who was also a giggler was sitting next to me, I was ok untill I saw him out the corner of my eye and that set me off, it was hilarious I had tears rolling down my face. Luckily it only lasted a few minutes!!!
After that we all went to bed as we had another early start at 7am.
We left the Monestry and headed to Lakes entrance which is a really nice little holiday town with a nice beach, we chilled on the beach for a bit then headed to where we were doing some wine tasting. About 10 of us did a wine tasting cruise before we met everyone else at the place where we had lunch and did some more wine tasting!!
It was really good, some of the wines were lovely, everyone had a good time, especiall Mrs Smith who was on our bus, she was Canadian and 65 and she had a bit too much wine it was hilarious!
We stayed in a caravan park in a place called Foster that evening but luckily we had cabins, not tents!! It was a really strange town, the only thing there was a pub and a few shops.
The following day was are last day and we would bew arriving in Melbourne that evening. We went to a place called Wilsons Promentory which was a really beautiful place, we did a rainforest walk that ended on a lovely beach where we stayed for a bit and had a picnic lunch. I went for a swim and it was freezing!!
Arrived in Melbourne that evening. Our driver Adam took us on a bus tour around the city and pointed out the main attractions which was good as Kat and I only have 2 days here. Melbourne seems really nice, not as big as Sydney and more chilled out and arty.
We checked into our hostel and all the girls from the bus got in the same room which is really good because we all got on really well. We went out for a meal then to a few bars that evening with everyone from the bus which was really good.
