So we know its been a while but we are still alive and kicking! Our excuse is that the internet outside of the big cities is so expensive and we would rather spend that extra money on chocolate!
We are currently in Durban after spending a few weeks working our way working up the garden route, through the transkei and Zulu lands from Cape Town.
The rest of our time in Cape Town was spent walking round the new World Cup Stadium and the waterfront which was all very nice. from CT we headed to Stellenbosch...wine capital of South Africa and went on a very messy wine tour. Apparently you are only supposed to sip the wine and tip it away but we werent letting anything go to waste!
From here we went to Mossel Bay where we wanted to go shark cage diving but the boat was broken :( and there wasnt really much else to do there apart from sit on the beach. Next we headed to Outdshorn where we rode an osterich!! and ate some osterich steaks we also went on a crazy adventure tour in some caves where we literally has to crawl and slide through these tunnels...much fun to be had!
The rest of the garden route up to Port elizabeth was basically filled with sitting on some beautiful beaches or going on hikes in the forests. We also fitted in a quick jump of Bloukrans Bridge, the higest bungee in the world off a bridge...all 216m of it! photos and DVD will be put on facebook soon!! it was awesome, we really wanted to do it again cause you get a discount but just couldnt justify the money...boo hoo!!
Once in Port elizabeth we went on Safari. So amazing, we even managed to see a lion kill (very bloody!) and 2 massive male elephats in a full on nasty fight...very entertaining though! I think we would both agree that they were 2 of the best days we have had in south africa (and absolutely nothing to do with the masses of food we got included in the price!)
From Port elizabeth we headed on into the Transkei which is basically a series of hills and valleys which are ruled by a king and are very much rural africa. They all live in round huts with a thatched roof, pretty eye opening at the level of poverty. It was so out of civalization that they didnt even have a cash machine! it was here that we learnt to surf. Suprisingly we werent actually that bad at it and managed to stand after a few first failed attempts. we also did other stuff here like jumping off cliffs which we now found out isnt acutally included in our insurance...never mind!
We did some more sitting on a different beach in Umzumbe before ending up here in Durban. we are actually staying at Hannah Cs Uncles house in the Valley of 1000 hills (literally!) where we have dome some relaxing. We are heading off tomorrow to spend a few nights in durban and will hopefully update all you guys in a much shorter time than the last time!
We are just trying to upload photos onto Flickr so go get an account and have a good snoop! its pretty slow going though so not all of them are up yet.
Love to you all
