We have now left Saigon for the beach town of Nha Trang. On Sunday we visted the tunnels dug by the Viet Cong in the Vietnam war, and the war remnants museum. It was a very similar experience to the Cambodia prison and killing fields, it is hard to imagine the amount of merciless pain and suffering human beings can inflict upon one another.
We also caught our first sleeper train. Very interesting experience, felt a lot like being on a boat! We shared cabins of 4 with 2 bunkbeds and very limited space for us and all our excessive baggage! We were on it for about 10 hours and I didn't manage to sleep very much but spent most of yesterday in bed watching telly which was definitely needed after several sleepless nights!
In the evening we went out for a nice meal in an Australian-owned restaurant and came back to the hotel to play Ring of Fire. Very funny, we learned a lot about each other over a bottle of vodka and I ended up with the nickname of Bob which I'm sure will stick until the end of the trip!
Today we visited some mud baths and a mineral spa which was very relaxing! Never been to a spa-type thing and lounging around all day in bikinis pampering ourselves was very welcome (isn't it always?!) The spa also had hot springs and swimming pools of varying degrees of temperature, well, scorching to quite warm!
Anyway, apologies this is short but must dash as we are leaving for another sleeper train to Hoi An in 10 minutes' time!
There should hopefully be some more pictures up as I have been fiddling around with the camera for the last few days! They don't have captions on yet so they are a bit of a mixed bag of everything from each country I have visited so far, beaches interspersed with the various war museums and places we have visited. Apologies for that, I did want to separate them out a bit more but it's impossible to find the time. Anyway, I hope you enjoy.
