I wrote this long blog the other day and there was a power outage so I lost it all, so here I go again from the beginning.
Halong Bay was absolutely amazing! Definetely my favorite thing that I've gotten to do so far. It was like house boating but on a pirate ship and on the ocean! Good weather, good food, good company :o)
The caves were huge HUGE but very touristy!
On the way back to Hanoi we stopped on the side of the road to take some pics and I learnt how to cut rice, I'll apprecaite my rice more now :o)
That night I got a sleeper train,it was really cool, I've never been on a people train before and 12 hrs later I was in Hue. It was raining, alot, but no big deal... We got evacuated out of our hotel and told water was coming our way, we had no idea! That night the streets started to fill and by the next morning people were boating down the streets and the 1st floor of are hotel was full of water, it was crazy!!! Between Hue and Hoi An (Hoi An is where I am now) 70 people died, but life here just carries on, flood or no flood. They still smile and float down the street, I can't really explain how happy and care free the people are, maybe it's because they've been through so much... it was the worse flood Hoi An has seen in 100 yrs. A couple of us made the best of it though, we went boating down the streets and ended up at a Royal Palace, got massages and facials, it was sweet!!
Hoi An is supposed to be the nicest place in Vietnam. They're still cleaning up but so far I've had a great day! It's nice to be able to walk in the streets after being trapped in the last hotel. Tomorrow we're outa here, I think we're headed to Saigon, I can't believe my Vietnam portion of the trip is drawing near to a close.
I hope everyone at home is doing great, I'm thinkin of you's.
