Hello!
We arrived, eventually. Had a bit of a nightmare start. Our flight was delayed by 6 hours at Birmingham before finally being cancelled at 4am. We were put up in a Hilton for the night then had to try again the next day after a couple of hours sleep. A little more of a delay then finally we flew out of Birminham around 4pm. However, there was a good thing to come out of this, we had missed out connection in Dubai and had to be put up in a hotel for the night, so after an hour nap we took the chance to go on a 2 hour city tour of Dubai at 5.30am. It was worth being delayed for! Loved it there and got lots of great photos.
Our flight to Bangkok was a good one, the plane was under half empty so we had plenty of room. Managed to catch up on some sleep too. We arrived and checked in at Bangkok where our hostels was in a good location and clean! We went for a little explore before heading off to bed for some much needed sleep.
The following day we had great intentions, got up at 7, showered and dressed, then fell back to sleep til 12!! Oh dear. When we got out of bed again we went in a tuk-tuk who was to show us the sights. The fun begins. We went to a couple of temples but we didn't really know where they were, then we were taken to a tourist office to book some trips. The first place was trying to charge us 300 pound for a week in Laos!! So we said no. The driver took us somewhere else which was really good and we booked our next 3-4weeks from there so we shouldn't have to worry about transport and accomodation.
By now it was chucking it down with rain! The tuk-tuk driver started to insist we go to 2 clothes shops (I think he must gt something out of it). The first was an expensive one and he told us not to buy anything, so why take us? We literally walked in then out. We argued with the driver that we didn't want to go to the other, and after not moving for half an hour in the traffic he finally gave in and took us to see the buddha. For this we had to climb up lots of stairs, in the rain, to find out it was closed! We walked back down another way, and the gate was locked. We started to panic and ran back up and down all the stairs thinking we were locked in, but got out safe and sound, but our tik-tuk had gone!! We had no idea where he was so we had no choice but to get another back to our hostel. This meant we had the driver for 5 hours and not paid him! A little worrid we might bump into him again we kept our heads down the rest of our time in Bangkok.
The next day we took an hour boat ride, I really enjoyed this!! We went down the main river then off to villages built over the river, around the fields and past a small floating market (photos will be up soon). We then had a tuk -tuk again, but this time we dictated where to go after doing some research. We went the Wat Po, the reclining buddha. This temple was beautiful, much better than the previous day. We also went to the Grand Palace, to find out we couldn't get in wearing shorts! Unfortunately when we went to go back later it was closing so we didn't gt to see it. We also saw another temple Arun Wat which was also beautiful. We climbed the steps close to the top (very tiring in the heat) and saw some lovely views. And that was the end of our adventure in Bangkok, it finished on a high.
