Hi Everyone!!! Its been a long time since ive updated you all on what we are upto!!! We have done loads so I have a lot to catch you all up on!! Were do i start......
We flew from Asia to Sydney and before we got our connecting flight to Cairns we stepped outside into the 10 degrees weather of Sydney.....it was like someone had just turned the air con on....as for 2 months we had been in sweltering heat! It was a refreshing change but then after 10 seconds we were back in the airport flying to Cairns.
We started off in Cairns at the top of the East coast of Austrailia. Coming from asia though meant that Cairns was a bit of a shock to the system and we soon realised how cheap asia was!!! The way of travelling in Austrailia is totally different to that in Asia so i think we spent most of Cairns getting our heads around western lifestyle again. Cairns was really pretty though and after a few beers we soon got into Austrailia style haha! We spent the first day in Cairns off diving on the great barrier reef, which was ace! We did 2 dives (we are totally into diving now!) and it was just amazing to see the great barrier reef up close and not many people can say that they did their first dive after their course on the great barrier reef so it was pretty special and we saw a 2 metre shark which was ace!! We had great weather and it was a fun day!! We spent the rest of Cairns just taking in the place and partying in the Woolshed, which is a famous place to party in Cairns....everyone seems to dance on the tables which of course we took part in!!
In austrailia there is no eating out like in Asia so the first thing we did was buy ourselves a cool bag and go food shopping....looking for the cheapest things in the supermarket, and off course we bought ourselves some goon!!! (for those of you who dont know goon is just cheap rubbish wine in a box!) This is what we will be drinking from now on!
We moved from Cairns to Mission Beach which is were everyone sky dives from (mum close your eyes) but as we are doing it in New Zealand we just chilled out on the beach and watched everyone else come down and land on the beach....pretty cool! The beach was lovely. Dingos are famous in Austrailia and I didnt know anything about them before I came here but as we were on Mission beach we saw one ( well we didnt realise it was a dingo till later) I thought it was a nice dog and was going to go and stroke it but for some reason I decided not to, later the guys in the hostel were looking at my photo and told me it was a dingo....they can be aggressive so glad I didnt go over to it but I doubt it would have done anything anyway!!! We spent the night in mission beach having a full goon party on the beach with our goon and campfire which was nice and chilled!!!
From Mission beach we moved onto Townsville......not much to talk about, not much there really!! We only stayed 1 night not even a full day! Our hostel was rubbish bit like a council estate and there was nothing to do! we had a look around and that was that haha!!!
We then hit Airlie Beach and the Whitsundays and this is were we started to enjoy ourselves again as we hit the bars in Airlie Beach and met up with some really nice people. We met a girl called Stefanie who was staying in our dorm and was on our whitsunday trip and so we just spent the nights going out with her and having fun!!! We then it hit the Witsundays! Which was again ace.....we stayed on a boat called Wings 3 we had a really nice group of people there was about 20 of us all together a few couples and then a few backpackers as well. We spent nearly the whole trip which was 2 nights 3 days eatingas the girl who cooked for us all was amazing and made well good food so we made the most of it!!! we had like 5 meals a day! amazing food!!! We did a lot of diving again and did our first night dive which was well cool!!!! Just amazing!! And of course we went to White Haven Beach which is absolutly stunning, we didnt get the best day for it as it was over cast a bit but its just gorgeous and the sand is so white!!! The best bit of the trip though bar the diving and whitehaven was seeing 3 whales!!! We spotted them out at sea and then all of a sudden they just headed for our boat, we were the only boat around and they came straight to us a mother, father and calf. They swam all around our boat and underneath it. At one point of captain Stu thought they nudged the boat and he said he was counting out how many life jackets he was going to have to thrown overboard as we were all running around from one side of the boat to the other trying to get photos and see them!!! But omg it was just one of those special moments that was truly an amazing experience!!!
After saying bye to Airle beach which we loved we moved onto Agnes water where we didnt inted on going to but we are so glad that we did because we had the best time there. There isnt actually that much to do there but its a beautiful little town and the hostel we stayed in Southern Cross was really pretty and nice retreat for backpackers! We went surfing there.....which was so funny. We had 3 hours surfing lesson and I stood up about 3 times i think! I was so rubbish at first which was very fustrating but then near the end i did manage to stand up! haha we had fun though!!! We met some really nice people at southern cross so much so that we didnt make our intended bus to rainbow beach we cancelled it and decided to stay in agnes water another day and just chill out. We loved the place and still miss it!!!
So after leaving agnes water we headed for rainbow beach which is where everyone goes to see fraser island! We have just got back from fraser island and had a wicked time!!! We had perfect weather! We all got 4x4s with ipod docks in and basically you just all get a designated car and drive around the island on the beach listening to music following a lead car. Pretty cool just driving on the beach looking at the sea, we saw whales again everyday from the beach. I had a moment to myself when i was sat looking out the window we had green day the time of your life song playing out loud and I was sat looking at the beach as we were driving away thinking this is coool and I am having the time of my life!!!! We visited a shipwreck and 2 lakes. At night we set up camp, ul be impressed that we had no showers and the toilet was a shovel!!!! It was ace fun though and its pretty wickid waking up in the morning and brushing your teeth looking at the most amazing views!!!!
We are off to Noosa tomorrow. We are totally loving Austrailia now and having the time of our lives!!!!
Love to you all!!!! Keep in touch. X
