Hello from Siem Reap, Cambodia!
We've just got to our first hostel and got free wifi wahoooooo!
We've spent today (from 7.30am until 5pm) getting to Cambodia from Bangkok which involved 2 minibuses, a bus, a questionable taxi driver and a tuk tuk (through the floods!!!!). Siem Reap where we are now is very badly flooded, our original hostel has had t shut because they've lost power. Our tuk tuk driver took us and a friend we made on the journey from bangkok to another hostel so we're all staying here tonight. The streets are incredible, easily waist height with water in some places but people just carry on on their bikes and tuk tuks. When we have a chance we'll upload the video so you can appreciate just what it's like! All part of the adventure :)
Tomorrow we'llbe up at 5am to see the sun rise at Angkor Wat.
Our flight was easily the best flight I've ever done, good food, friendly air hostesses (actual Australians with a dual Australian accents, Lou and I nearly wet ourselves with excitement hahaha), good films and We even managed some sleep. AND they had ginger beer! Large vodka and ginger beer knocked me right out! Flying into Bangkok you could see just how much of the area has been flooded, the fields look like the sea. Central Bangkok is ok at the moment and we managed fine to get to Lou's brother's place and go out for dinner and a few drinks!
We'll write a proper blog entry once we have access to a computer somewhere as it's a bit time consuming on an iPhone!
