sooo here i am back in the land of the queen, otherwise known as queensland and i am currently chilling in cairns before heading off down the coast on wednesday! perth was unsuccessful as the weather was awful and when i walked into the travel shop and asked what there was to do around the area o was told therre was nothing to do because its winter.. so what a waste of money!! i couldnt get to cairns quick enough as that meant the arrival of becca =D who although being extremely jetlagged still managed to get on the vodka and the energy drinks so she could go out and party on her first night.. now thats impressive!! i slept the whole of my first day!
theres so much to do in cairns even though the weather has been overcast and annoying the whole time we have been here!! on saturday we went white water rafting on the tully river which was such good fun.. even though becca made it her personnel mission to try and push me out of the boat at every opportunity, so i had to work as a team with the instuctor to get her out of the boat a lot!! and did you know.. tully is the wettest town in queesnland!!! so typically it rained all day, although didnt put a downer on our day at all.
the next day we took a day trip to go and look around the rainforest which was stunningly beautiful, and out guide took loads of time to tell us all about the different trees and wildlife that you can find there! we saw a strange, wacky looking fig tree called the cathedral fig tree, we also saw a crater which was 68m deep then there was 80m of water before it disappeared below the ground and no one knows where it goes.. it was really strange to see. finally we went for a swim in the milaa milaa waterfalls where its rumoured peter andres mysterious girl music video was filmed and also the timotei shampoo adverts. it was stunning and if you braved the freezing cold water (they dont say one swim at this time of year iniates you into the northern queensland polar bears club for nothing) and swam under the water fall to reach the back then looked up it was so worth it.. it was beautiful!!!
so on tuesday we are off on a boat to see the reef and that will be the end of cairns, for now we are heading off to pray for sun so we can sit by the lagoon. lets hope for the sun to shine =) xxx
