Whilst we were in Queenstown, Caz, Becky, Chloe and I decided to hire a car and spend a few days in the very south. We were a little delicate from Paddy's day celebrations the day before, so only drove to Te Anau the first day.We stayed at a wicked holiday camp and had a bbq and played cards. It was muchus funus.Mum - you will be pleased to know I taught everyone Gin Rummy, and we played nothing else for the next week.It all got very competitive!
Next morning was an early start so we could spend the whole day at Milford Sound. The drive was stunning, and made even more fabulous as the sun was just coming up and piercing the low clouds. The photos were amazing, and had I not lost my memory card with all my photos of New Zealand on, I would be able to show you!Nevermind!Milford Sound is just such a beautiful place. We were lucky enough to find a small boat that only had 10 people in total on, to give us a two hour tour.It had rained the few days before, so was the perfect day to visit as the waterfalls were all at their most spectacular. We then slowing drove our way home, stopping at all the walks and sights along the way.We stayed in another campsite about 20 minutes outside of Te Anau.
Another early start as we cruised down to the very most southern point of New Zealand. We drove for a lot of the day to cover the ground, and stayed a night in Milton. We stayed at the most hilarious hostel, owned by a Swiss guy, Tony.He was fabulous - there was a teddy tucked into our bed, he taught yoga in the morning, we cooked everything on a log burning stove, and he did all the washing up!Legend! Was such a little treat!Another early start and we made our way into to lovely Dunedin. We drove the horrendously winding round out to the peninsula, where we met the seal in the photo, just chilling on the side of the road.We drove up to see the Albatross, but didn't have time in the end as we had a prior engagement at the Cadbury's factory - priorities! We made the right decision really as two days later we saw three huge Albatross whilst out fishing in Kaikoura! We headed to the Cadbury's factory - ate lots and then hit the road.A fab trip, and nice to be away from the big green bus for a few days!
