excellent update, thank you miss hancock. I would however like to speculate over the idea that you just typed a load of gibberish into the computer and did not actually type in the correct name for bangkok.

Yeah so there was this massive three page article in the observer travel section this sunday about Vietnam and Cambodia. I so want to go!! As long as there are no mosquitos or geckos or frogs who like the rain or dogs with long brown scraggly claws and fleas who chase you down the beach and snarl at each other and lick themselves inappropriately when you are trying to eat a blueberry cheesecake flavoured icecream.....xxx

I am back in cyberspace after a week, and my computer now resembles a new born bab, all fresh and new. You will be pleased to know that, having wiolated computer-baby with bt, norton, and microsoft word, the first thing I checked was facebook, followed by your blog. And I am delighted to read a concise and amusing post about our trip. The frog/gecko/reggee bar scenario was one of my favourite excerpts. I will now write you a very looooooong email keeping you up to date with more unprintable matters, possibly peppered with slightly more colourful language. xxx

Hallo Katie, you are still having a great time I see, altho' I wouldn't say that Ko Somet was the greatest cultural experience of your trip ! I am off to Tahiti and the Polynesian Islands in ten days if I can manage to get thru the dreaded Terminal 5 hopefully with my luggage intact. Very pleased that I have a ticket for Jenny's graduation in July. We have had two days of solid rain here and next week it's all football on TV. Oh what joy ! Love xx

Yellow lovely,
It all sounds so much fun!! And it's so enjoyable to read Katie, I'm loving getting the installments.
On Friday I'm flying to Turkey with me mam and dad for two weeks of beach/sun/pool and... dissertation. I have to take some books with me to keep on track with my work, but I don't mind too much as I'm really enjoying working on it at the moment (I'm sure I WON'T be saying that at the end of the summer). The Sex and the City movie came out last week and was (unsurprisingly) v successful; hoards of women storming the cinemas - I'm going tonight to find out what happens to Carrie. And I'm having jacket potato with baked beans and cheese for my dinner - yums!

Hey Smatie, have just caught up on your travel blog - sounds amazing as always. I was quite reminiscent of my time in Malaysia - I had forgotten about the crazy frog ALBUM played in all good outlets everywhere it would seem, and also the ridiculous censoring and cups of tea half full of sugar! Mmmmm! Glad you are having so much fun - hope Thailand with Warl was ace. I am going to have to go already as I'm off out for dinner with Jack's parents but will message again soon,

Trisha to a gormless moron (I hope you can imagine the stronger term I would apply to him if STA travel blogs were a little more lenient):
"according to claire, you are an alcoholic..........voilent........ model-making........... bird-watcher".
I can't stop laughing! How's chang mai? Did you know chang is thai for elephant? S.N.I.F.F

Fascinating blog, again vividly portrayed. I'm so impressed with what you've achieved. By the way, don't expect me to push you in the car - or whatever is the equvalent of the man pushing the boat along! If the locals are drinking all this alcohol, why aren't they suffering from cirrhosis of the liver? I woundn't fancy the accommodation that you had in the longhouse! Good luck for the next stage of the tour. It was great to speak to you the other day. xxx

well well, smatie - if you're still in Singapore and you happen to bump into a couple of (rather green) English lads called Jack and Matt, they're my housemates! Though I'm not sure if you're up to date with the old bloggy wog, it's wednesday today and they're flying today, so will be in Singapore Thurs. No idea if you are there/will still be there then. ANYWAY.
It's the rugby premiership final on Saturday, wasps vs leceister. I've finished my exams now and am doing my dissertation/watching the apprentice/applying for jobs. I'm also knitting squares for a mega-blanket oxfam are putting together to publicise women who give birth who have little medical care and so, well, die. My gay next door neighbour also came out and told me he fancied me, which was a bit of a shock to everyone, and has made a bit of drama throughout our houses. Oh, and we're getting very very tropical-weather-esque here today; it's hot (well, warm) and huuuumid with a LOT of raaaaaaaaaaaain. Bring on the summer!

Next time I have a sleepless night, I'll think of you in your longhouse. At least there is plenty to keep you occupied. Don't think I'll book a holiday there just yet though. There are some things I'd rather experience from the comfort of a computer screen! Great blog and photos as always-- can't wait to hear all about it in person.
