Rain rain rain... Mokeys, Mopeds, Waterfalls and FULL MOON!
After a couple of days relaxing and a few nights out we decided to be slightly more energetic. We booked a tour for the day and managed to pack a lot into it. Leaving at 8.30 we went to see elephants and monkeys, the choice to do the elephant trek which charlotte opted for was given. She really enjoyed herself you could tell by the laughing and screaming. We got a lot of good pictures. The rest of us just hung out with the monkeys and very cute puppies. We drank fresh coconut milk and then onto an actual trek where we climbed and climbed (in flip flops!! - sorry daddy!) until we got to the top and the view was stunning. We the trekked our way to a waterfall and swam in the pool of it to cool down. After that it was lunch time which had definatly been earned. Onto a chinese temple? We are in thailand so that was a bit confusing, however interesting and then to the long boat (an old traditional Thai fishing boat!) for snorkelling. Unfortunatly by this time the rain had come, but it didnt stop us having fun jumping off of the boat and snorkelling. The fish were pretty cool and the fact they tried to eat charlotte and tasha was highly amusing for anni and i as we threw bread in the water so the fish swamped the girls ha ha. Charlotte's quote of the day was "STOP IT (throwing bread at her...) they're looking at me like a piece of meat". Once back to our lovely accomodation we all had "nanna-naps" and went out for what was going to be a quite one but for greg tash and charlotte it definatly was not a quite one!
The next day we hired mopeds which was adventurous and quite scarey as the hills here are huge, the original plan was to get a moped each, however chatlotte and particularly tash couldn't quite grasp the concept, instead opting to aim full throttle into a congregated fence! Opting instead, to use her feet as brakes (wish we filmed it!) So we doubled up, after that episode and only took the 3 mopeds, riding in convoy around the beautiful island! Knowing that the full moon was going to be a big one we explored shopped swam ate and rested. Nanna naps were had by all again and when greg and i nipped to the shop before getting ready we found ourselves in what could only be called a complete downpour so bad in fact i had to question greg if it was going to be the next natural disaster, scarey does not even discribe it. We had to get straight off of the bikes as the rain was so unbelievably hard and to top it all off there was a power cut! The whole of phangan was out of power, thailand is not like england so everthing was pitch black. When the tropical rainstorm died down we headed home only to not be able to find our home as there were no lights. We got back to the very concerned, distressed, half-dressed, anni, charlotte and tasha. They had started getting ready for the party when the power failed so showers were had in the pitch black... eventful to say the least! We managed some dinner and whilst attempting to get ready -face and all- by candlelight about 2 mins before we were all ready to go, the power returns!!! So we had light and air con for the most critical part of that night. We U.V painted ourselves up and headed to the party of the Island! amazing! I think we can safely say that we had a full-moon experience to remember!
The Beach was swarmed, we began with our raincoats firmly placed over our clothes so as not to end up looking like drowned rats after 2 minutes, like the previous night! Howvever, the weather was finally on our side as the clouds shifted ready for us to get on the buckets and involved in the copious amounts of dancing! The atmosphere was amazing, everyone just happy to be there and U.V body paints all round! The night consisted of dancing, drinking and dancing a little more until... Our greg thought it a good idea to take himself (and others) for a dip in the (wee infested) Ocean. Greg's first victim was Anni....DUNK, followed by Tasha Hanna and Charlotte dunk dunk dunk! Smart. Of course that was greatly appreciated!! hmmmm! There we stayed until we decided it was time for food at 5AM! 6am came, after food was consumed and we all decided bed was our main priority! Off we headed in our tuk-tuk as the sun began to rise! There we stayed until Greg knocked on our door at 9.30 am (still drunk) ready for food. The day after the "night before"was spent 'recovering', mopeds were returned, sleep was caught up on and hangovers were nursed.
Our last night on Ko Phangan was celebrated by the 5 of us when Greg took us all for a meal to say thank you for letting him be our roomie. The meal was lovely, ridiculous amounts of food was eaten and it was then home to pack and bed, ready for our next adventure to Koh Tao, beginning the next day!
