Here it is, my first ever blog. We arrived safely after a flight that took 10 and a half hours followed by a taxi ride with a guy from Moscow who made some very interesting noises when we said we were thinking of going to Russia, hmmm, perhaps not. We're staying in a very cheap motel that looks like it could feature in any Stephen King horror but we're 3 blocks from the sea and it's clean so who cares, just need to make sure the doors stay locked!
We woke up at 6am and couldn't get back to sleep so we had an early start and caught a bus to Manhattan Beach. While waiting at the bus stop we bought a cake from a bake sale and were entertained by a very American guy who could do fantastic impersonations but did ask if we lived near Tottingham. Now I know my geography's not all that but it's not in England, right?!?
We had choccy pancakes with syrup and strawberries at Uncle Bill's pancake house, walked passed some gorgeous houses and then rented bikes. We rode up the pacific coast bike trail, all 12 miles passing Marina del Ray, Venice Beach where we saw some real freaks until we reached Santa Monica where we had a go on the ferris wheel and wished we hadn't. I also had my fortune told by Zoltar from the movie BIG. I have added the video of what he had to say and it is scarily true to me! I also saw a few things when I was out today that some of you in particular will appreciate, Mark and AC, look closely.
We had our dinner at a burger joint called The Counter and it was incredible. There were 4 meat choices, 10 cheeses, 27 toppings and 17 sauces to choose from, they say it's not a place for the indecisive but I'm not so sure ;-)
Now as for this California sunshine, I've seen none of it though I do have a watch tan line (thanks Protean crew) and we both have pink arms and not sure how. It's still supposed to be cloudy tomorrow but here's hoping, signing out, US TWO xxx

A.C. EEEEEEEEEEEEK!!! :D Ooooh, I'm just going to spend the next year commenting on your piccies, and laughing at your wonderful outlook: "some real freaks"! HANNAH!!! LOL! ;D I'm so glad you're both there safe and causing offence to the locals where possible! And I love that 'only made for giants' bike that Adam seems to have managed to stay on! (Or is it that the piccy merely makes it look like the bloody thing could easily roll over my Freelander?! hehe ;D ..I'm so glad you're there, although obviously suitably miffed that I'm here ;D And hope it's all as fabby as I wish it to be for you both :D Be sparkly, and offend them more often ;D Biggy big love, A.C.
