Bali being one of the most touristy places in indonesia was a place we were going to avoid however glad we ignored the advise to miss it out we managed to find a beautiful town called Ubud. Before that though we did go to Kuta, the trashy part. We stayed for one day and then found Ubud. It so happened right in the middle of our stay here was the 6 monthly Balinese offering ceremony where food and other gifts are offered to the gods to bring a good year for farming. Great to see but made manoeuvring a scooter along the crowded roads a bit treacherous! Once again we stayed in some beautiful accommodation and once again we were surprised with what Indonesia has to offer! Highlights included getting my feet nibbled on by some fish, after hours of searching on a scooter and getting very sunburnt in the process finding babi-gooling, a type of Indonesian food which is basically suckling pig stuffed with Indonesian spices, and lastly just the accommodation and the family we stayed with. Also worth mentioning as I'll put it on the blog photos, as we flew from Sumatra to Bali we saw a sunset out of the window. The photos don't do it justice but it was probably the most impressive thing I've ever seen!
