Mumisode of the Day: Getting stuck between carriages after visiting the WC on the train to Prague and standing with arms raised, looking at David helplessly. She had to wait for Amber to exit the WC to open the door effortlessly. Apparently all Mum could see was 'Emergency Exit' and didn't want to stop the train.
David had done his research once again and we set off toward the central railway station in Budapest via the Metro. Although it was only two stations away, we were all a little apprehensive as the Metro escalators here are wooden and are double the normal expected speed. Mum said "I'll just have to go out like I'm going over a cliff and hope for the best!"
We managed to get the five backpacks with people in tow up and down the escalators and on to the train. Another porter experience, but this time we were quite grateful as we had no idea which carriage/seat was ours and we really needed to get rid of some useless Hungarian florints.
With seven hours on the train in total, we purchased various snacks from the cart. David thought he might be fairly hungry with the only sandwich available being made with ham, so we had to rely on pretzels to sustain him.
We arrived in Prague without incident and made our way via the Metro to our apartment that is in the heart of the city and really close to the Old City. After some research and following the advice of Google, we headed out for dinner in a traditional Czech restaurant that was set down a flight of stairs to the underground. Dad and David tried the goulash while the three girls had the specialty of crumbed and fried cheese with potato and tartare sauce. After a walk to see the Charles Bridge we returned to our apartment for an early night.
