China Tow, Boating, Temples and over night train to Chang Mai
I first met my tour 'buddy' Katie who I shared a room with during the tour as she was already in the room when i checked in.
We decided to explore for the afternoon but immediately fell for the trap offered by a tuk tuk driver to take us to the shopping centre near by our hotel. Wanting to visit it was not as easy as we thought it would be and we ended up going on a tuk tuk tour to suit tailor shops and jewellery shops instead for a good two hours before being dropped off back at the hotel. We never even made it to the shopping centre but learnt alot about what not to do in Thailand. We did get a free trip to the sleeping budha and he only charged us 40 baht (80p) so wasnt the end of the world!
At 6pm Katie and I met the rest of our tour group and we went out for a group Thai dinner and got to know each other and discuss our Itinery before beginning our Thialand journey - Week 1 Chang Mai and trekking! The next day we were to get an overnight train to Chang Mai so we spent the day in Bangkok visiting China Town and several Temples as well as riding up the river on a boat or two. It was a very hot day, so we were all pleased to jump into a cold shower when we returned.
The overnight train was definately an experience. Waking up hundreds of times when the train felt like it was flying of the track made for a rubbish nights sleep. However this was a good night to get to know the rest of the group seeing as sleep was off the agenda!
