So our first experience of China, and what an experience. We have had Monsoons, Strange and sometimes horrific food, a night out with a mate from uni and an all round good time.
We arrived at around 5pm on monday after rushing to the airport to get an earlier flight as ours was cancelled, flew straight to Hong Kong and after a scenic but long bus journey we arrived at our Hotel. Clean does not even come close to describing this place. You get fined 5000 HK dollars for spitting and dropping litter. Savage. If it wasnt for the smog it would be the cleanest place on Earth. The first evening we just wondered around the city getting to grips with the culture and the ridiculous Humidity. It is so humid here even when its raining its 30degrees. Typical that today it is glorious sunshine and we are sitting in the airport!!
The days were spent walking everywhere, we pretty much saw the entire Hong Kong Island by foot. The parks are amazing, they benefit from the hot wet conditions and the wildlife seems to enjoy it too. The parks are in the middle of the city surrounded by high rise buildings. I dont think one building is less than 30 stories high. The city is a wash with contrast. Take the bank of china which is a spectacular building, see photos, but it is next to a grotty shabby old tower block. It is almost as if they dont knock things down, more just build a new building in the space next to it!
Last night we went out on the town with frazer and a few of his HK school mates, needless to say it was messy, so much so that frazer wasnt aloud on the ferry on the way home! An open bar was the cause of that one.
Right gotta run, our flight has been called. Off to Thailand now and cannot wait!!!
Sorry about the long boring blog, I promise it will get better but I am Hanging today!!
