After seeing the $150 price tag on renting a raft from the marina, we decided to get our own set-up going! 2 Tropical Islands and 1 paddle purchased at Wallmart, saved $100 on the deal. After some trial and error figuring out how to carry the Tropical Islands Dave and Kes took off with their wide-loads down the bike path. Sara carried the paddle and I strapped a cooler on my rack. The rafting turned out much better than I expected, it was a blast!!! We tied the two rafts together and followed Sara's expert advice of tying a six-pack to a rope and letting it float along side us. Natural cooling. Kes's raft entry was a little rough so they were bailing water and had wet butts. The float was beautiful and peaceful. We reached our bikes but weren't done with our beers so we kept going. A short pit stop was made and the mosquitos started swarming! We quickly took off again. At the final destination Sara and I booked it for the marina's bathrooms. Dave and Kes were eaten alive while deflating the rafts - Kes ended up with some serious welts/bites. We walked/ran to the bikes then sped back and jumped in the hot tub. This will happen again.
