Hey all!!! We have sooooo much to write about!
Well, we had 2 fantastic days in Hanoi before heading to Halong Bay. Its a crazy city, we have posted two videos of the traffic, strange but we are?used to the madness now after Cambodia and Thailand! We have bought lots of cds for 20p each for when we go to New Zealand so that we can play them in our camper. We then went to see the water puppets with 2 irish girls that we had made friends with. They were great! Garry especially loved them! We had some lovely ice cream, Garry was more interested in the name of the shop though, fannys hehehe. We havent seen that many sights in Hanoi as we now have 5 days here so plenty of time to see everything!
We headed to Halong Bay on Wednesday (we were glad to leave out hotel in Hanoi, we had a few probs there such as toilets flooding themselves, arsey staff that tried to skank us for every penny and the staff stealing some of my knickers when we put our laundry in!). We got to the harbour and boarded our boat. The bay was lovely and calm and it was soooooo nice to get away from the hot and sticky weather. Halong Bay is quite chilly so it was a nice change! We sailed to some caves and explored those, we then went to a fishing village and a beach where we saw some huge jellyfish. We had our tea on the boat with our group then slept on the boat for the night. The morning we left for the trip we had spoke to an english guy that had been on the same trip a few days prior. He told us how he had been woke up in the night by rats, some had even got into his room, ran along his curtain rail and jumped onto his bed!! Our boat was lovely and clean so we thought we'd have no probs, how wrong we were!! We were woke up by scurrying alongside our cabin and i freaked out!! The boat has turned off the engines so we couldnt even switch a light on, thank god for Nan buying us torches!!!! In the end we sropped off to sleep again after flashing the light around our room to check there were no rats. We then got woke up again by them scratching above our cabin, by this time i was pretty much hysterical!!! Anyway, none got in our room but we were kept away most of the night by them (which didnt bother me i just didnt want them to come in and jump on me!!!) The next day we went to Cat Ba Island and did a trek through the forest and then kayaked in the afternoon to Monkey Island. Kayaking was amazing, but really hard work, the paddle was well heavy!! Garry was really proud as he managed to snap his paddle in half, god knows how!!!! We will upload more pics and some vids v.soon
