So yesterday was a chill out day. Lovely lie in followed by exploring cairns town before heading back to the hostel for dinner. All in all a relaxing day... Apart from being caught in a torrential downpour for the third time since we arrived in cairns.
Today we headed to the barrier reef on the quicksilver boat. It was fantastic! Morning tea and biscuits aboard the boat then arriving at the pontoon where we collected out Lyra sting proof suits (unattractive things they were) before plunging into the water with our snorkels and flippers with a quick trip on a semi submersible first. Saw a turtle!!
It's an amazing underwater world down there! Plenty of colourful coral and more species of amazing fish than I could count. After diving down a few times and taking some cool pictures we headed back up for some lunch. Food was amazing... Plenty of sea food, meats and breads and pastas.
Laura went on an organised snorkel trip which I unfortunately couldn't afford so I sat and read my book for a whole and waited her return.
We headed back into the boat and quickly changed before the rush. More tea and cheese and biscuits were then served for the journey home.
On arriving back at the hostel we went for dinner then packed our bags. Early collection of 6.30 tomorrow for our sky dive in mission beach.
