Surfers Paradise was probably the most relaxed section of our journey so far. We arrived in the afternoon and decided to splash out on a curry. it wasnt good. anyway, we have also developed a pattern of trying to stay away from campsites. in australia it is illegal to sleep in the street and you must stay at a campsite. however, we do not have the money to do this. so we find little side streets in suburbs or secluded car parks by beaches and sleep their for the night. we did this for four nights out of five in surfers which was good fun as it meant staying in scenic spots for free!
we spent the days on the beach relaxing and playing touch rugby. a few of us did a surf course which was quality and we managed to get quite good! on the second day in surfers we decided to go to the cinema and despite mine and slaters requests to see 17 again with zak effron (high school musical) we instead saw fast and furious 3. it wasnt as good as 17 again would have been :(
Our final night in Surfers deserves its own paragraph. what went down will stay in our memories for years to come. Our good friend Huckleberry had not been used for a good 2 weeks, he was feeling lonely and unwanted. We wanted to make him know that he was still in our hearts. So to show our respect to Huckleberry we thought it was a good time to go for it. Yes, the 40 litre challenge. 40 litres of pure coctail between 8 people! It was a massive effort with only 3 of us making it to the end (me, slates and paynel). Some people ask was it worth it. the answer. yes, yes it was worth it. we did something that no one thought possible and we did it in style!
On a side note, i also managed to get our van wedged in a car park when i got our height calculations all wrong... luckily the van was undamaged despite being popped out of place.
