Day 86
Beautiful sunny fall day. It is so wonderful to wake up and see Lake Superior right outside our windows.
Headed south on Wisconsin 13 this morning. It is incredibly windy, sunny and 65 degrees. Fall colors are vibrant, very near peak here, it seems. This drive is scenic, we are passing through the Chequamegon National Forest, and cute little towns like Butternut, Park Falls, Fifield and Phillips.
We cut over to 51, then 39 south in order to get to Stevens Point to have a late lunch with Leah's mother. Leah is David's wife; her mother is Penny Van Tassel. Penny and Wade live nearby in Wisconsin Rapids. We met at Grazies for a yummy pasta lunch and some wonderful conversation with sweet Penny. Wish we lived closer, she is a dear friend. So glad our kids fell in love!
Spent the night in South Beloit, IL at Pearl Lake Campground just south of the Wisconsin border. Pearl Lake, a clear deep lake, made from a rock quarry, is very popular with scuba divers.
