G R On Tour
Panaji, Goa (24th - 26th June)
Due to the rain there was no point in staying around the beach resorts so we decided to tag along with Jase and Liz for a few days to do some sightseeing in the rain! In Panaji itself the main attraction was the Church of our lady of the immaculate conception - ok its just a church but from the pictures you will see it was worth seeing.
When we first arrived in panaji we thought we were staying in a half decent guest house (we should have guessed when we were paying under 4 pound a night there was something not right here) but when we returned on the first night after a few beers we were greeted by 4 cochroaches in our bathroom - how nice, a real roach motel!!
The second day we visited old goa and its half dozen churches and cathedrals, SE Cathedral, Convent & church of St Francis of Assisi, Basilica of Bom Jesus, Church of St Cajetan, Church of St Augustine (ruins), Church & Convent of St Monica. The pictures again will be better than anything we could describe and to be honest its incredibly tedious as we have to look back at the books, maps etc to remind ourselves so we'll leave the research to those who are interested!!
It was good to spend a couple of days with Jase & Liz, not just because it was a break from just the 2 of us, but they were a great laugh and hopefully we'll be seeing them again in sydney when Jase is back home.
After here we decided to go to Colva for a couple of days before getting the train down to Cochin. There's no point in trying to write anything about Colva as we did nothing!! It was just a stop off on the way to the train station.
