G R On Tour
Hey everyone
Sorry we've been so slack at updating this site. We've finally decided we should do it and just found out we can't put all the photos on from this computer so will have to do that sometime next week.
Jaipur (26th to 30th May) - forgive us but this is going to be quite vague as it really seems so long ago now. To be perfectly honest we didn't do a great deal here as we both felt we had done more than enough sight seeing in delhi & agra so we decided to kick back and relax for a few days (obviously a few beers were involved). We stayed in relative luxury here at the hotel pearl palace, air conditioning, cable tv, room service all for 6 pound a night - cheers for the tip burton, one of your more useful ones.
We had a couple of walks around the old pink city where we managed to get lost and ended up deep into the 'street scum' territory, which wasn't too nice but overall the city was good, a welcome break from the madness that was delhi. We feel we should explain 'street scum' a little; best way to describe it is if you think about a London tramp, multiply his/her dirtyness by 20, probably with a limb missing, begs you for money and then continues to follow you for a good few minutes until they eventually get the message that they're not getting anything. 'Street scum kids' will also be mentioned, same as above but kids. Maybe this sounds a bit harsh but after the twentieth one in an hour approaches, i hope you can imagine how tiresome it gets.
The only sight seeing we did was the Nahargarh fort which looked impressive but as we had seen agra fort the day before we decided against paying to go inside. We got side tracked a bit with the England v Sri Lanka test match so spent quite a bit of time just relaxing at the hotel.
On we go to Jodhpur...
p.s message from Gray, thanks to everyone that phoned, sent texts/emails to wish me happy birthday.
