So here we are off on our minimoon to sunny Austria. Not the best start to the day, we left our house at 6:30am & sat nav said 1hr 45 mins to get to Heathrow. Three hours later because of horrendous traffic and a lot of bum twitching, we made it to the airport by the skin of our teeth and boarded our flight.
When we got to Vienna we caught the CAT train which pretty much delivered us to our hotel. It was a fab train like riding a double decker bus but as a train.
Our hotel was really modern and had a boutique feel to it, with a massive king size bed and power shower. We also noticed a bottle of bubbly in the room which was a present from both sets of parents. What a lovely surprise.
Because we had most of the afternoon left we decided to do a bit of exploring. After what seemed to be a three hour walk and a lot of getting lost, we eventually found the place we were looking for... Hundertwasserhaus. This is a set of flats which are all multi-coloured and uneven. People actually live in them. The architecture is amazing in Vienna but these almost look they are from a fairytale.
We also went for a beer and a pizza here. Vienna is notorious for its slow service which of course doesnt suit Ian "Mr Inpatient" Grocott. Hence I think the waitress hated if for asking if he could actually order. When we got back to the hotel we were shattered so went for a drink in the bar followed by complimentary cold beef strips.
Back in the room we ordered room service and ordered a burger and a Club sandwich with chips. It was yummy and just what we needed before we passed out and fell asleep.
