Sunday morning, Ollie and I (and ALL of our bags) were put into a black cab to the Eurostar terminal to head to Paris to meet Pete, Bea and the girls. Brian and Paul headed off to Manchester with Andy to watch West Ham play.
A very interesting ride through the chunnel which is 75m under the sea bed and when we emerged into France it was snowing - so beautiful to see. Now Paris is gorgeous in the winter and our hotel at Regina near the Louvre was amazing. It was so lovely to see Pete, Bea and the girls and Margo who was just finishing up a month in Europe. At 3pm that day we headed off for our first tour which was to the summit of the Eiffel Tower - on Level 2 we could see Paris as the lights came on in the city - on the summit - we were fogged in! BUT we did get to see the tower light up and then walked to our restaurant overlooking the Eiffel Tower for dinner. All four of the kids slept at the restaurant as the adults enjoyed a lovely dinner and a few glasses of champagne with views of the Eiffel Tower.
Day 2 in Paris was a Treasure Hunt through the Louvre - one of the most amazing museums in the world - we travelled through ancient Egypt and Greece, learned about the French Revolution and saw the Mona Lisa - an amazing couple of hours before heading to a lovely French Bistro for lunch (more food!). This is where Brian found us after his extra 24 hours in London. That evening Pete and Bea headed out to a posh French restaurant for an anniversary dinner while we ordered room service for the 6 of us. We had the waiter in absolute stitches as he realized he had to deliver 6 dinners and 6 desserts to our room but it was so much fun.
The next day was set aside for SHOPPING in the Opera district and Galeries Lafayette - so many beautiful Christmas decorations and displays. We had hot chocolate and French pastries at Angelinas and then headed home to pack for a very early start the next morning. Dinner at a very French Italian restaurant (the pizza bases were made of croissants!) and home to bed - to be up at 4.30am to leave for CDG airport for our flight to Rovaniemi, Finland!

Nicola Padget I think I must have missed you by a couple of days - I was in Paris for work last week. Would have been a great place to catch up for a champagne. Looks like you all had a great time. Do you have photos of the huskies?
