This morning we leave on a short trip north, why? Because we can! Our plan is to meander up the coast of Queensland for 3 days and then turn around and head home.
We packed our bags and put them in the panniers of our TigerXRX 800, we added the new Notebook, wet weather gear and a few odds and ends to the top box and headed out the gate at 9:45am. The day looked glorious.
This is the first trip for this computer and the first chance to try our the new travel blog site as Travelpod (the site we have used for our last 4 trips, no longer exists).
As it is Sunday, the traffic on the M1 was light, always good to travel through cities on a Sunday. We stopped for coffee at Caboolture and then continued north. Instead of staying on the Bruce Highway we decided to follow the Glasshouse Mountains Tourist Route. This took us through Landsborough, Montville, Mapleton and Nambour.
Lunch was at Yandina. As it was still early we decided to ride through Coolum and Noosa before arriving at our overnight stop - Gympie.
If you could order perfect riding weather today would be the day. The sun was shining, ro wind and certainly no sign of rain. The scenery was spectacular - mountains, canefields, ocean, heritage buildings and plenty of bikes of all sorts.
On arrival at our hotel in Gympie we discovered we are a bit out of practice packing for a bike trip - no bike cover, no chain to lock the bike up, no shorts or sarong to laze around the hotel room in. We really should go away more often!

Christopher Yes a good shakedown prior to Europe 2018 for you,the Triumph, notebook and offexploring. Well I remembered the cover, chain & shorts boy are they needed each day after riding in the US summer most days over 100oF sorry 38oC
Craig and Marg And Mr Lane said and I quote "we'll just pack on the morning we leave ". Look how that worked out. Perhaps it's time for a laminated packing list lol (We are still jealous just quietly)
mike h Oh well, just have to sit around naked like the old days!
Mike and Jo We have also been kicked off Travelpod. We downloaded the content of 8 years and are now looking for a new home. The old Horizons Unlimited site has been improved considerably so we might go back there. It is all a bit of a screw around.
Schneider Family Sounds like a perfect day.
The Bunny Seems to be a lot of food involved :) Looks like you have snagged great weather too.
