Someone told me that once you have had your first rural contact, I mean with the ecotourism or the rural tourism, you will never forget the experience and you will enjoy every time you stay in a rural house or rural hotel ... Thanks Ecoturismoelhierro and Granturalcanarias!

This time I went to El Hierro, the smallest island in the Canary Islands.

I went with my partner and we decided to spend some days visiting the whole island! So we started our trip in Valverde! what a wonderful place ... what a tasteful island ... I recommend you to ask for Quesadillas and Queso Ahumado Herreño, Palm Honey .... mmm simply delicious! We stayed in the the rural house El Hondillo, just an the entrance of the town. Calm, near, well equiped ... nice people ....

A few days later we follow our rute to San Andrés. And of course in betwen we try some walking paths. One day someone recommend us to have lunch at "Casa Goyo". Oh my God! "Pechuga Rellena" was it speciality ... It consist on chicken with cheese, butter and ham ... Really a pleasure! That time we stayed in the rural house el Valle, with a huge garden with thousand of colored flowers! We decided to spend some more days here to read a novel and enjoy the garden and the good weather. Do not forget to visit el Mirador de la Peña!

Later, we continued to el Pinar, of course visiting all the interesting places between the towns. La Restinga is a beautiful fisher town. Delicious fresh fish and salads ... (as you can imagine I love eating!!! ) Our home, the rural house Casa de mis Padres. The old lady who runned the house was very polite and offered us some lemons and tea. It was a great time, and my partner and me learnt scuba diving! Such a surprising experience!

We spent our last part of the trip in Frontera. Do not forget to visit "El Lagartario" and of course the smallest Hotel in the World, with only 3 rooms!!!!
