Ok guys this picture shows some of the fun we had on the Ship and this blogg is designed to tell you a little more of the fun and games we (well i ) got involved in.
Activities were designed to entertain the passengers on most nights and during the day for those relaxing cruise days.
Day events included access to minigolf, rock climbing wall and pool areas, we spent most of our time relaxing around the pools and hot tubs, enjoying the sun while reading and listening to live music, but on one day we did find ourselves roped into the mens Sexy Legs comp, where Sam won the Chicken Legs prize dressed in his buggy smugglers plus Sue's high heels and Kerry's hat (see picture), this was follwed by the crew versus passenger pool volley ball comp with Sam as our coach made for some fun in the pool.
Evening fun tended to be more group orientated and generally started with the show at 9pm, but we turned up by 830 to get our regular 10 seats in the middle of the theatre just 4 rows from the stage. Bob the cruise director got to know us fairly quickly and would chat to us most nights even refering to us from the stage, making special comment on Sam's birthday and managing to make sure the whole theatre noticed when Sue accidently tipped the ice from Kerrys drink all over her lap, causing Kerry to jump from her wet seat!!!
The night would continue into one of the other lounges, with two nights including a competition called name that tune which involved the lounge split into two teams with the band playing a few bars of a tune, the first team to run up name the tune and sing the song won the points, extra points for number of contestants on the dance floor dancing. We lost the first night so recruited extras to make sure the second night we blitzed the show, the highlight being of course YMCA.
Most shows would need some audience participation and the funniest night was when a Welsh singer asked if anyone was from Wales and Sam from Sciliy put his hand up, we were all crying with laughter. Sexy Sam from Sciliy!!!
We enjoyed spending time with several off the batr staff, with a special favourite Ian from Trinidad who had a wonderful smile and accent refering to Kerry as "Mi Lady". We started a habit of singing "When your smiling" everytime he came along and by the end of the cruise he knew all the words and sang along with us. We extended our singing when we rode back on the shuttle boat from Venice with most of the other passengers joining in with a good old sing along.
OK about singing i must mention how i got through to the Kareoke final, it started with us hitting the bar on the second night and having fun as a group, with Steve and me singing a duo of Acky Breaky Heart, then they announced that Kareoke superstar comp would replace the all in time, so we prepared for the next event by loaning the list of songs to study our options.
We showed up for the first heat with a few song options including duo's and group songs, only to find the rules only allowed for 8 single singers. Steve put down for one and i put down for Acky Breaky. Steve was first up and suffered a little from nerves, my screaming rendition was simply to make up the numbers. Suffcie to say we wernt in the top two who went through to the finals.
We were a little late for the second heat because of the name that tune competiton, so we missed that one and showed up for the third night. This time Steve sang Acky Breaky and i changed to "Build me up buttercup", we were 2 of 4 competitors because of a low turn up and they put us all through. I was ably supported by Sam with some impromtu backup dancing.
The final came on the last night and despite our best efforts, we lacked two qualities that a young lady had who won the night despite her singing, all in all it was a fun time and i have the video to prove it for those interested.
This is only a quick run down of our fun on board and i hoep makes you understand how we ended up so exhausted.
A great fun cruise with greta fun people
