Hi All
We have been in Otavalo for a month now.
We had a one day week this week due to a bank holiday and our builder could only do one day.
Thursday we did stove building but had to wait two hours for our builder to show up.... so similar to the UK! I got sunburnt as it was so very hot - about 25C. Building was hard in the heat once we finally got round to doing some!
Friday we just chilled, and prepared for the next leg of our trip - Peru and Chile. In the evening we went out to our local pub - the Red Pub with the other volunteers.

Saturday we went horse riding in the local mountains with three other volunteers. We had a really good day. Lindsey's horse was called Marilyn after Marilyn Manson, as the horse had a funny white eye. He was a good horse though and did not canter off like my horse! My horse was called Panther, after Pink Panther. He was a stubborn horse and he did not obey my instructions! We rode for 3 hours, to a waterfall and back, up and down some steep hills. My horse liked to follow the others, so when the other horses started to run faster, he did too. It was fun once I got use to it.
Saturday night we spoke to Louise on skype.
Then we had a night just the two of us.
Sunday we had a chill out day with a bit of shopping round the markets and lunch. All is good.
This is our last week with GVI, we leave on Thursday for Peru. We had an amazing time here. Everyone is very friendly. Our host family have been great. We will miss them and our host mum's cooking. We will also miss Otavalo.
If you are ever in Ecuador pay a visit to Otavalo, it's a great place with great people.
Or even better sign up for the GVI Project:
