Graeme round the world
Day 18 Tuesday 11/04 Bicycle taxi ride to the port, where we buy our gifts for our family visit tonight. Lake Titicaca at 3,820m is the largest lake in the world above 2000m it is beautiful and like the mediteranean along its shore and huge 170km in length so you can't even see land on the horizon on some parts. Our Mamas meet us when we landed and took us to there simple homes, one room was just full of guinea pigs!!!!!. Played football against the locals which is easy at this altitude and very pleaed to say scored a hat trick including one straight from the kick off like David Beckham from the half way line and we won 5-2 which apparantly is a rarity. Had dinner in their kitchen, which had a mud floor on a slant and stone walls, withh the grandma kneeling to cook over and open fire, food yummy and then we were dressed in Peruvian clothes, ponco and inca hat to go to the local dance, which was really fun. The family were very freindly and luckily spoke some Spanish so could communicate a bit, slept very well after the footie and the dancing :o)
