Graeme round the world
Day 71 Sat 3rd June Up at 5.30am to get to Uluru to watch the sunrise.....it gets so cold in the desert during the night and everyone was wishing they had warmer clothes as we watched Uluru change clour as the sun rose and real magical moment and got some lovely photos, but really pleased to get in the warnmth of the bus again :o) I made the choice not to climb Uluru because the Aborigini's ask that you don't and I wondered how I would felt if I asked people not to walk acroo\ss the barn field and they kept doing it, so I wanted to respect that, as they seemed a very friendly bunch. Went back to the Olgas for a longer hike out to a beautiful valley entrance and saw some wild dingos and wild camels, before going to the Aboriginal cultural centre, which was highly informative and explained that one of the reasons they didn't want people to climb the rock is that they could be hurt or killed as many have been. Saw some excellent Aborigianl paitings.........guess what I'm going to be painting in art class when I get back :o) The started the 5 hour drive to Kings Canyon and saw my first Salt lke on the way. We all prepared supper and lit the fire and cooked in on huge pots in the fire. We sat around attempting to make noises on the digeridoo and started to get more success.......... as we drank more :o) Actually it was so funny on the first night I was convincesd I heard someone playing the Digeridoo in there tent when everyone had gone to bed, but in fact they were just a very loud snorer :o) 5 other people joined mein the swags for more sleeping under the stairs and we snored our way to morning.
