Grace's Adventures!
Hello again people! I thought I would just do a brief postcard as I am leaving Brisbane in 2 days and know I definitely won't get the chance again before I leave oz! I seem to have had eventful weekends every weekend in Brisbane, which can't be bad! One weekend I went up Mt. Coot - tha lookout with my housemate Simon and the views across the city were amazing! Beyond the city you could see the sea, and in the other direction you could see the hinterland; the great dividing range - very impressive! Then we had a look round the botanic gardens at the bottom of the hill, which were brilliant! There was a tropical house, fernery, bonsai house, Japanese garden, cacti, lakes, a remembrance wall and loads more! I have also been orienteering in the city botanical gardens which wasn't particularly challenging but still fun. I also went to an Italian festival which was just on for one day, and was a complete let down after the brilliant Greek festival I went to! There was hardly anything going on, the singing wasn't very exciting and the queues for food were enormous! So just met a few people there for a chat and went again!
Have also spent 2 days in the Queensland museum - pretty interesting! They also had a temporary ancient Egypt exhibition on too, which was really good. Also started a very interesting martial arts club in connection with the self-defence in the park I was doing, and all for free! I'm still amazed at the amount of free things there are to do in cities! I have been out with the people from the martial arts club in the city and also a house party with them which was good. Have also met up with 2 girls from the hostel I stayed in a few times, one of which was a fantastic Brazilian party with a live band all night, and I got in at 7am! I've been working mostly in Toowong child care centre but not as many hours as the previous weeks, and have also been back to the university kindy and another one at a hospital which was nice! And now I am setting off from Brisbane for my final adventure! See you soon!
