Well, we've nearly finished our time in New York. We have just this minute returned from the East side, where we went to watch the Independance Day fireworks display. I have never seen so many people all at once! The fireworks were good but we didn't have the best view as we only arrived like an hour before they started. It was interesting to see a distinctly American holiday be celebrated though.
Since we have been here it has been sweltering hot every day. A few days it was really muggy and we have had a few thunder storms, which were really exciting, but other days it has just been BOILING and sunny. To round up our ime here I'll go through the main things we have done, but we have done much more than I can fit in here!
We've pbviously eaten LOADS of food. I think I've developed an extra chin. There is an amazing restaurant round the corner from where Tom and Alice are staying called Big Nicks and it has the biggest burgers and menu EVER. So so good.
We have been to the Natural History Museum (amazing, lots of real size models of animals inc. a whale) lots of shopping, Times Square, which is very stressful, The Staten Island Ferry, chilled in Central Park with picnics and went on a rowing boat ( I was the best rower obv.). Today we went to Central Park Zoo which was brill. The best part was watching the 2 resident polar bears swimming through some underwater glass. They were MASSIVE. There was also some hilarious monkeys and we saw a red panda having a poo. The hostel has been nice but we have a very smelly man living next door who makes the corridor REEK. haha. We also went to the Sex Museum. Best thing ever. But some Americans took the piss out of me for using the word 'willy'. Pssshh.
Before we go we're going to check out the Empire State but I am NOT going up it.
I'm off to Toronto on Monday and Alice, Tom and Hugh are going back to England. SCARY!
For now, have a nice day as they say alot here.....
