Only 2 weeks to go now before we fly off to Kathmandu on 12th March and strangely every thing seems to be coming together: We've sold the camper van from our Europe trip which means we have enough money behind us to not have any financial worries during our 2 years in Nepal; The flight tickets have arrived, though they did manage to have me down as Mr Amanda Service so I don't know who they are expecting when we arrive, or quite who Gordon will be sharing a room with in our first port of call, the Pacific Guest House! And we've bought 2 years supply of Immodium as we're determined that unlike everyone else who goes to Nepal, we will not be succumbing to any gastric unpleasantness! But this may be the calm before the storm and the panic will probably set in next week!
We are flying out with another 8 volunteers and will be spending our first 6 weeks with them learning the rudiments of the Nepali language and some cultural things so we can minimise how often we put our feet in it! We met quite a few of the others while we were on our last VSO training sessions in Birmingham and got on really well with them, so it is comforting to know that we already have a support circle there when we arrive. And we've also been checking out the Kathmandu Hash House Harriers who seem quite an active bunch for us to get involved with.
Anyway, we will be spending our last couple of weeks on family and Edinburgh goodbyes as well as endlessly packing and repacking our suitcases to try and make 25kg stretch as far as possible. We'll update this regularly and get some Nepal photos on as soon as we can.
