Having already seen Bangkok we decided we would just head south, as we only have a 14 day visa this time. Beach time was well over due. Once we got to Bangkok we jumped on the next over night bus to Krabi, one of the gateways to the southern islands in the Andaman Sea. Krabi itself didn't offer us much, it was like a ghost town, arriving on a Sunday probably didn't help. We did find some places open but not a lot. We were left waiting for our mini van again, eventually it turned up 30 mins late,to take us to the Thailand/Laos boarder, is anything ever on time? We were the last to be picked up so had to climb into the front, as the whole van was full, our bags only just fitted in the back. The tour company hasn't seemed to realise that a van full of people crossing the boarder means lots of luggage too. One of the seats in the front was makeshift and a 5 hour trip on it did...

The train to Chiang Mai seemed okay, the chairs were simple and comfy.......when they stayed in one position, they appeared to recline alot. When we booked the tickets we oppted for air con, as the open window and fan option we had on the previous train trip was slightly unpleasant. Eventually the air con lost its icey coldness and we had to turn the fans on too. The journey was nice and we got to see alot of country side, rice and corn fields, jungles and watc...

So we have left the beach and the relaxed atmosphere. Altough we were sad to leave the beach behind we are very happy to have a room and bed that do not have sand in them!! Because the train was so delayed on the way to Pran Buri we decided to give the bus a go on the way back to Bangkok. We were lucky and only had a 20 minute wait for the next bus. Hi Every one, So we finished Bangkok with a day trip to a floating Market, the River Kwai and a Tiger temple. The floating market was crazy, basically a massive traffic jam on a canal, a very narrow canal with a massive amount of boats. The boats were all long boats but some were motored and some were row boats and all of them just went for any spare pach of water, even if it meant nearly running on top of another boat, let alone the tourists!!
